If a piston travels up and down at
4 inches per revolution, it will travel 20,000 feet in one mile! After 10,000 miles, the engine has made 25,000,000 revolutions, each spark
plug has fired 12,500,000 times, and each valve has cycled 12,500,000 times! A fouled spark plug or restricted fuel injector can lower fuel efficiency
as much as 30 percent! A loose alternator/drive belt can allow electricity to be present, but not in sufficient amounts to keep the battery
charged.
What Does That "Check Engine/Service Engine Soon" Light Mean?
When this light illuminates, it is
indicating that something is wrong with one or more systems or components in your vehicle. This light can illuminate (solid or blinking) for far too many reasons to list.
There are over 100 diagnostic codes specific to every model of vehicle. Anything from a loose gas cap to
a problem with your vehicle's main computer. The
important thing is that you don't ignore it for an extended period of time. If you do ignore the light, it
can cause a domino effect in your vehicle's operating systems. If your light appears and the performance of the vehicle does not change or if the light goes off, call us
and make an appointment to have it diagnosed.
